Hey Alex, So tell us about HR Cloud?

HR Cloud is a leading developer of HR Software, HRMS business solutions and pioneers of onboarding software with a focus on employee engagement. Tell me more about why you are building this?

We built these products because there was not currently a simple way to bring employees into an organization and continue engagement in a meaningful way. Growing companies with multiple locations have gaps in engagement and company culture (not to mention cultural differences). Company culture translates through our platform due to its ability to showcase what is happening at the other offices. Employees are seeing this activity in their timelines and it is additive to inter office collaboration.

We used to use Yammer ourselves and it was limited in its scope and the add ons came later. We starting building a more complete system that incorporates recognition. The employee profile is where data is stored in the enterprise and useful when relevant information is associated with it. By making the employee profile social, and its interactions trackable and quantifiable, it provides more opportunity to increase corporate culture while understanding insights into what is going on in any given office in real time.



Interesting, What’s unique about what you are building & why do you think companies should use HR Cloud?

HR Cloud emphasizes the importance of engagement and together with onboarding, employee recognition is a crucial measure after joining the company. Applications that clearly share the purpose and values of the organization through communicating gratitude among its employees enhances engagement and satisfies the desire for approval. It is a function that is partially built into more expensive enterprise HR information systems, used by companies with tens of thousands of employees, however our system with its sleek modern dashboard is compatible with what small and medium sized businesses (our smallest customer has 9 employees and our largest has 4,000) who are embracing new tech and adding to their stack. With a strong company culture intact, where everyone is on the same page and consistently engaged, company retention as well as overall productivity and profitability improves.



How are your customers using HR Cloud? Could you share a few different use cases?

One of our most unique customers employs over 1,000 college age young men and women who are between their school years earning money for tuition. Everyone is hired in May so the volume of new hires is daunting but with our HR Cloud Onboard product it scales easily and has made that former paper based process very simple for them. Maintaining compliance with employee verification requirements to electronically sign, store and audit I9 & W4 forms.



Were there any early ‘growth hacks’ or tactics that have contributed to your current success?

Since Workmates is free to use and the mobile app and web application are so robust that in itself could be considered a growth hack. We built it for people to use it and understand how our system works. HR Cloud’s product Workmates makes for a nice stand alone system. Should companies using Workmates be interested in learning more about our additional products, they are highlighted with a slider on the left hand side and Workmates users can start a trial or schedule a demo via intercom allowing companies to grow on our platform.



What were some of the biggest challenges while building the product early on and how did you solve them?

Two years ago we started with a browser based mobile application then scrapped it because the experience was bad. We then started from scratch and built Workmates from the ground up using swift and android. We are really glad we made that decision because Workmates is what it is today because of it and will only get better.



What have been some of the most interesting integrations you’ve added?Are there any that have been particularly impactful for you?

Our latest integrations include Greenhouse, Checkr and ADPOver 600,000 companies use ADP for payroll, taxes, HR, etc. these businesses entrust their workforce data to ADP everyday. But have you ever wondered how you could put your workforce data to use beyond ADP’s product? That’s why they built the ADP Marketplace and we built atop ADP’s API, so software companies like us can now build products powered by workforce data in ADP, breathing new life into the information. HR Cloud has entered this rich marketplace with our Onboard and Workmates applications. The ADP Marketplace provides HR professionals with secure turnkey solutions to workforce management. HR Cloud’s integration with the marketplace means HR users can conveniently log in to Onboard and/or Workmates with their ADP credentials, as well as import their entire workforce data with one click. Given the pain “platform-locked” data causes companies, HR Cloud is building a one-click solution to importing ADP workforce data into Onboard and/or Workmates. With a click of a button, employee data is synced from ADP, so HR professional can immediately begin using HR Cloud apps to onboard new employees, handle compliance or nurture company culture. Onboard and Workmates meet and exceed ADP’s rigorous security and UX standards, giving HR professional the industry-leading tools they need with data safety they expect. In addition to ADP, HR Cloud products integrate with Google Apps for Work, Google Calendar, Microsoft Office 365, Slack, Yammer, Okta, OneLogin, Tango Card and Linkedin.



Finally before we end, What are the top products that you depend on to run the company & how do you use them?

A portion of our tech stack includes:

Bamboo for continuous integration and code deployment.

Aha! for product planning and roadmaps.

New Relic to monitor system performance and gain insights.

Hubspot been a customer since October of 2015 and subscribe to their inbound methodology.

Intercom is how we interact with our users on a daily basis.

Salesforce is used by our sales team to manage our accounts.

Basecamp we use for projects and staying organized.

G suite we use it all: Gmail, drive, calendar & docs.

Slack we really like slack that’s why Workmates Kudos get pushed on the slack feed.
