The presentation, “The Cloud’s Business Impact on HR,” has been approved for business recertification credit toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Cloud computing is changing the way that companies throughout the world operate. This is particularly true for human resources professionals. For example, cloud-based HR systems have had a major impact on businesses' ability to build culture and improve productivity.
With cloud- based technologies, companies are now able to measure competencies and generate in-depth data to analyze key performance indicators like never before. Cloud-based systems enable businesses to digitally communicate business goals, creating better organizational alignment and reinforcing company values. Capabilities such as these are transforming businesses today, giving them additional capacities to provide data on human capital costs—an imperative element for organizational success for companies responding to an economy that is beginning to pick up steam after the recession. However, HR professionals are often faced with challenging questions about cloud-based technology. For example, how can HR professionals ensure that a cloud- based system provides security and can be trusted to protect data? How should service levels and formal service agreements be analyzed to guarantee that they are sufficient to handle organizational needs? How will incorporating cloud-based technology with other applications impact areas such as payroll and benefits?
This presentation will explore these questions about cloud-based technology, preparing HR professionals to respond to challenging questions about security, service, and integration. Participants will also learn how cloud-based technology provides an efficient means to make data driven decisions based on the measurement of goals and human capital costs. HR professionals will leave the presentation understanding how cloud-based technology will enable them to remain competitive in today’s economic climate, as businesses begin to rebound from the widespread impact of the economic downturn by expanding business and bringing on new hires.

"Larissa did a great job of explaining how the cloud works, especially for lay people like myself that are technologically challenged! In a career that is so paper intensive, Larissa was able to explain to the group how the use of cloud [technology] could make our lives easier and reduce the day-to-day paper monotony that we all go through. I found it to be an informative and beneficial meeting. Once the meeting was done, Larissa hosted a networking event that allowed us to mix and mingle with other HR professionals and get specific answers about the product with one on one conversation. She did a great job!" —Rhonda R. Kelly, PHR, Human Resources Manager, Southlake Clinic Inc; Past President, South King County SHRM

"I was able to attend my first CISHRM [meeting] and had no idea what to expect. I was going to network but was pleasantly surprised by how much I learned at the meeting. Larissa was presenting on how we can take advantage of the cloud for HR professionals. She made us aware of the questions that we should be asking a vendor. The presentation that Larissa gave was clear and to the point, which is great for those of us that don't know the technology 'lingo'. She did a fabulous job! Can't wait until she comes back." —Amanda Jellema, Human Resources, Radiant Complexions Dermatology Clinics
"The Winona Area SHRM group was fortunate enough to have Larissa Fleming speak during one of our monthly meetings on 'The Cloud’s Business Impact on HR.' We had approximately 20 people in attendance all of which were engaged and excited about the information Larissa was portraying to the group. If you choose to have Larissa as a speaker, she will be easily understood and she has a knack for showing all members in the audience how the subject matter affects them directly. Larissa’s commitment and passion toward the topic was contagious!" —Elizabeth Ruff, HR Generalist, Peerless Industrial Group
"We were lucky to book Larissa for one of our chapter meetings earlier this year. She presented 'The Cloud’s Business Impact on HR.' She was not only a delightful and knowledgeable speaker, her subject matter was very appropriate for our group. With so much of our HR administrative work being farmed out to 3rd parties these days, we’re finding more and more of our information out there in the cloud. How do we go about ensuring our information is secure? How can we utilize the cloud to make us more efficient? She raised a lot of questions I hadn’t even thought of and answered them all! It was a great meeting." —Leslie Vlisides, SPHR, Coastal Bend SHRM, 2014 Chapter President
